Bob Hickey is 38 years old and has been involved with Archery for almost 34 of those years.

His parents Bill and Jody were among the original founding members of the Washington State Bowhunters (WSB)in 1977, when he was 6 years old.

Some of Bob's first archery and bow hunting lessons were in the mid 1970's from his uncle Bill Olson, parents Bill and Jody Hickey, Glenn and Jay St. Charles, Chuck and Grace Bartlett, Al Ranaldi, Jim Stark, Jim and Sharon Kilmer, Steve Gorr, Jeff Deline, Buzzy Cook, and Duke Savora.

When he was 15 his parents opened The Nock Point a retail Archery Pro Shop with indoor shooting lanes. Since then, he has become familiar with traditional longbows, recurve bows, compounds, competition shooting, bow tuning, equipment, technique, form and shot routine analysis.

In his teens, most of Bob's technical Archery Coaching came from Professional Archers Bob Anderson, Frank Pearson and Ed Eliason.

Among his other accomplishments, in 1988 he placed second in Young Adult at the National Field Archery Association World Outdoor Field Archery event held in Darrington, WA. He also won an award for the being the first young adult ever to shoot a perfect indoor 1800 round, in the State of Washington. He currently holds other state and regional records with both the

Washington State Archery Association and the NFAA.

At 18, Bob qualified as a Level 1 Archery Instructor and was certified as a Level 2 instructor in 2002. Certified Instructors must meet safety requirements of the National Archery Association (NAA).

In 1990, after an accident diving into a shallow lake, Bob became paralyzed from the chest down. Shortly after, he became a contributor to WSAA's bimonthly newsletter, "The Quiver" and wrote columns about accessing the outdoors, shooting and bow hunting with a disability.

Bob has also been hunting and fishing in Washington State for over 30 years and is very successful in accessing the outdoors.

He has extensive knowledge of the most advanced archery equipment and has been teaching archery at all levels for over 24 years. Bob has an excellent network of contacts at the WSAA, WSB, NFAA, and at the NAA. He also has contacts at equipment and supply dealers and Archery Pro Shop owners.

Bob also has experience marketing archery classes to civic groups, archery clubs, and individuals interested in acquiring skills in archery.
